Work has also started on a new VB.NET version of the the Print & Scan Image scanning software using the Pegasus Imaging character recognition (ICR) software. The product is not intended to compete at the top end with the Eyes and Hands product from Readsoft, but will give users the ability to employ a lower cost alternative that will integrate into Print & Scan in the same way that the original Nestor engine was incorporated into the software.

This move has been necessary by the withdrawal of the Nestor recognition engine. It meant that Trax UK needed to find a good quality but cost effective engine to fill this gap in its product range. Tests and responses from a number of suppliers indicated that the Pegasus option was the only one that matched the stringent criteria laid down. Watch this space for further news!
